CHILDREN’S CAMPS & MUSICAL PRODUCTION

There is still time to register for the Strand Theatre’s sixth annual Children’s Camp open to boys and girls ages 5 yrs. to 17 yrs. The week-day sessions will begin on Monday, June 8th and will conclude on Friday, June 19th. The camp participants age group 9 yrs. to 17 yrs., will star in a Music Theatre International, (MTI) one- night performance of “Fiddler on the Roof, Jr.,” in the Strand Theatre at 7 pm on Saturday, June 20th.
Cindy Brown, Camp Director, will be returning for the fourth consecutive season. The Hohenwald Arts Council is fortunate to have someone like Cindy Brown to achieve the Strand’s original 1939 endorsement, “Always a Good Show.” Last year’s performance of Annie Jr., kept the packed house amazed at the seasoned Strand Camp participants, as well as, the first on stage appearance of many camp participants, with no prior training.
The Theatre Camp enrollment deadline is June 6th, or until enrollment reaches capacity. Students may be pre-enrolled by phone. For more information concerning camp tuition, registration, or M.T.I. “Fiddler on the Roof Jr.,” production tickets, contact:

The 2015 Strand Children Theatre Camps are sponsored by Oliver Companies.
And, The Foreigner, written by Larry Shue, is back!
Open auditions are scheduled for Monday evening, June 1, 2015, 7 p.m. at the theatre, 100 East Main Street, Hohenwald. A few cast & crew members will be returning from the 2010 local production of this hilarious comedy set in rural Georgia. But there are some open spots!
Whether you have a hankering to be on stage or behind the scenes, organizers of this full-length production likely have a place for you.
On-stage openings may include one female (mid 20s – 30s) and up to two male roles (one teen to early 20s plus one more adult male).
Backstage assistance is needed for props, stage hands, set construction and more.
Production dates are set for July 24-25 and July 31-August 1. A strict rehearsal schedule will be announced following auditions. Interested parties should be able to devote the months of June and July to this production.
The play will be directed by Becky Jane Newbold, assisted by Roni Bonville and is a fund raising event for programming of the Strand Theatre Hohenwald.
